Rumpke will service All Gettysburg households on Mondays. Please place your trash and recycling containers at the curb the night before your scheduled collection.

CURBSIDE GUIDELINES

All trash must be bagged and placed inside of the Rumpke issued 95-gallon trash cart.

Carts should not exceed 50 lbs.

In accordance with federal law, Rumpke is not permitted to accept batteries, tires, liquids, combustible materials or any items identified as hazardous. Please contact the Darke County Solid Waste District for disposal option. (937) 547-0827 

Bulking materials including drywall, concrete, dirt or rocks are not accepted curbside. Please contact Rumpke for disposal options. (800) 828-8171

LARGE ITEMS

Residents can place up to three properly prepared large items at the curb for collection the second Monday of each month, at no additional cost.

Mattresses, box springs and upholstered furniture should be wrapped and sealed in plastic prior to collection.

Freon containing appliances require special handling procedures prior to pick-up. Please visit Rumpke.com for details.

RECYCLING

Rumpke will supply all households with an 18-gallon, red recycling bin for the collection of recyclables. Recycling will be collected weekly on Mondays. All items should be clean, empty and placed in recycling bin loose. Notes: No plates, cups, napkins or paper towels; remove lids and straws; cans must be empty; no paint cans; lids ok if reattached to empty bottle; metal lids ok if detached from bottle.

TRASH CARTS

All trash must be placed at the curb inside of a Rumpke-issued trash cart. The use of one trash cart is included in rate. Residents can request the use of additional Rumpke 95-Gallon trash cart. This must be personally done by resident wanting an extra Rumpke trash carts are made of sturdy plastic and features a lid and wheels for easy mobility.

HOLIDAYS

Rumpke observes Christmas Day and New Years Day. If the holiday falls on a Monday, collection will occur on Tuesday.

Big trash pick up is scheduled for the second Monday of each month.

LARGE ITEMS

All you need to do is call the office at (937) 447-2171. If you would like to look for yourself what days are available, you can go to  Gettysburg Community Park | Teamup.  But you will still have to call the office to reserve.

There is one rental fee of $140 per day. This rental fee includes use of kitchen, tables & chairs, and restrooms. We have enough tables and chairs to seat 150 people.

There is no fee to use the shelter or the ball diamonds. But you will need to fill out a contract for use of the shelter.

We do have softball teams that are using the ball diamonds this year so dates are limited. You are encouraged to reserve dates as soon as possible.

All you need to do is come to the office at 216 High Street, Gettysburg, OH 45328. There you will fill out an utility agreement. You must have a PO Box # from the Gettysburg Post Office. (There is no mail delivery in Gettysburg)

TRASH SERVICE: Trash is to be at the curb by 6:00 A.M. on Monday mornings. When Christmas and New Year’s fall on Monday, trash will be picked up the next day. Every household in Gettysburg will receive a 95-gallon trash cart for their weekly trash. The cart has an attached lid to prevent litter and to keep animals out. The cart is on wheels for easy mobility. If you would like another trash can, it is up to you to call Rumpke to receive one at (800) 828-8171 and you will receive a bill from Rumpke each month for the extra cart. Rumpke will collect trash using an automated truck that lifts and empties carts at the curb. Please use these guidelines to ensure clean and efficient service:

• Please bag and place all trash inside the cart.

• Face the cart toward the street (wheels away from the street).

• Position the cart within 2 feet of the curb

• Avoid placing the cart near parked cars, mailboxes or other objects.

• LARGE ITEMS such as furniture or mattresses will be collected on the Second Monday of each month. You may set out up to three large items at once. Appliances such as refrigerators or air conditioners must have refrigerants removed and include tag from a certified technician.

RECYCLING: Each resident will receive a red bin to be set out with his/her weekly trash. 

VILLAGE UTILITY BILLS: Bills are sent out on or about the first of the month. Payment is due the 15th of the month. After the 15th, a 10% penalty is added. Bills not paid in full by the 25th will be charged an additional $25 administrative fee and may be subject to termination of services. Payment can be made at the Gettysburg Council House, 216 High Street, placed in the night depository slot, or mailed to the Village of Gettysburg, P. O. Box 345, Gettysburg, OH, 45328. PLEASE BE SURE to include the stub of the bill with your payment.

TO PAY ONLINE: go to http://villageofgettysburgohio.org and look for Pay Utilities at the top of the page. Once you click that, you can go to Pay Now without signing in. You will need to your account number and last name associated with your account.
